This Technical Note (TN) is part of a series of thematic TNs that aim to support partners to apply the human rights-based approach (HRBA). The TN begins with a short introduction to the HRBA and the PLANET tool. It then explains how human rights norms and standards underpin the thematic area. The TN goes on to demonstrate how PLANET can guide staff in planning, assessing and monitoring of a contribution through a series of guiding questions and examples. Finally, it provides a simple model for empowerment and capacity development analysis and a list of additional resources to explore.

This training consists of 6 modules that don't need to be taken in a specific order. Modules 1 to 4 are compulsory for all partners of the Palme Center and for all who work at the Palme Center.

Module 1 - Gender Equality - What is it and why?

Module 2 - Gender Equality - Palme Center approach

Module 3 - Gender Analysis

Module 4 - Gender Mainstreaming

Module 5 - Gender Equality in organisations

Module 6 - Domination Techniques

Are you ready to transform your trainings from informative to transformative? This hands-on, interactive workshop will equip you with the tools and mindset to design impactful, learner-centered trainings that truly make a difference. Over two dynamic days, you’ll explore how to set clear learning objectives, apply active methods that boost engagement, and measure success based on real learning outcomes.

Using practical tools like the ABC formula and Bloom’s Taxonomy, you’ll learn to:

- Formulate powerful, measurable learning objectives

- Choose the right methods to activate and involve participants

- Evaluate whether real learning has taken place

- Design training that fosters real change using the AAA (Ability, Authority, Acceptance) model

You’ll engage in brainstorming with a twist, lively discussions, creative roleplay (Fishbowls!), and solo reflection exercises that help embed the concepts. By the end of the course, you’ll not only be able to plan more effective trainings, you’ll be ready to lead them with purpose and confidence.

Perfect for: Trainers, facilitators, organisers, and anyone who wants to strengthen their ability to drive learning and change.

Walk away with: A ready-to-use training plan, new inspiration, and methods that make learning stick.

Let’s go beyond business-as-usual trainings - let’s design for real impact!

  • Welcome to the Security Risk Management E-Learning Series

Civil society organisations deal with a wide range of security risks to staff, volunteers, cooperation partners and our operations in general. Shrinking space and a volatile working environment can disrupt operations, harm the people you work with, and make it harder to achieve your goals.

This course is here to support small and medium-sized organisations, especially those working in high-risk or repressive environments. You don't need to be a security expert to take part – it’s designed to fit all staff, no matter your position in your organisation. The goal is to offer practical guidance, helpful tools and space for reflection. You'll be encouraged to think about what security means for your team and how to build routines that support your work and protect your people.

Each module includes real-life examples, downloadable templates, links to expert resources, and ends with a short quiz to help you reflect on what you've learned.

This is the first of four modules on Security Risk Management:

Organisational SecurityV | Physical Security | Information Security | Psychosocial Aspects of Security Risk Management
